Sensory Swimming for SEND

Our Resource Provision Staff worked hard throughout the Autumn term to fundraise in order to provide weekly swimming sessions for our children in the Resource Provision. Through hard work and determination, we raised enough money for the children to attend swimming sessions for 12 weeks. The sessions are delivered by the staff and support children sensory needs and coordination. Thanks to Frodsham District Taxi service who provide free transport there and back every week. This is a fantastic opportunity and is providing invaluable life skills for our children around safety and confidence in water.

Children from the Resource Provision attend weekly swimming sessions for a full term (13 weeks). These sessions offer significant sensory benefits, such as promoting body awareness, improving coordination, reducing anxiety, and providing a calming sensory experience through the feel of water.

Children begin at their individual starting points and work towards building confidence in the water. The goal is for all children to achieve at least 'Award 1' level by the end of the term, which includes:

Safely entering and exiting the water
Moving forwards and backwards (even with feet on the floor)
Blowing bubbles
Scooping water overhead
Participating in movement games
