Vulnerable Group Sporting Events

Through our tailored sports programs and partnerships, we aim to ensure that every child—regardless of their background or ability—has the chance to develop essential life skills, foster a love of sports, and build a healthier, happier future.

At Frodsham, we are committed to ensuring that all children, especially those in vulnerable groups, have access to meaningful sports opportunities that help them develop essential life skills. We recognise that physical activity plays a critical role in fostering confidence, teamwork, resilience, and overall well-being. To meet these needs, we have established tailored groupings to encourage participation and engagement from all children, regardless of their starting point or background.

Tailored groupings this year in different sporting events:

Pupil Premium Children: We provide additional opportunities to ensure these children can participate fully in sports and physical activities. This helps promote physical health and social interaction while developing teamwork and leadership skills.

SEND Children: For children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, we offer activities that are tailored to their abilities and strengths. Sports help build motor skills, improve coordination, and boost self-esteem, offering an inclusive environment where they can thrive.

Less Active Children: We focus on engaging children who may be reluctant to participate in sports by offering activities that are fun, non-competitive, and inclusive. This approach aims to create a positive association with physical activity and promote lifelong healthy habits.

Gender-Specific Focus: To encourage a love of sports among girls in our school, we have created dedicated groupings and sessions that provide a supportive environment for them to develop their confidence and skills. These initiatives help break down gender stereotypes and foster a more inclusive culture in sports.

Younger Children: Recognising that younger children have fewer opportunities compared to older students, we provide age-appropriate activities to help them build foundational skills, coordination, and confidence in a fun and nurturing setting.

Children Attending Clubs Outside of School: For children who already participate in clubs outside of school, we provide additional support to help them progress to the next level with their skills. This tailored support encourages further development and enhances their potential in sports.

This year, we have worked with Chance 2 Shine Cricket and Chester Community FC, each delivering 7 sessions focused on developing core sports skills and promoting an active lifestyle. These partnerships have provided expert coaching, broadened children’s exposure to different sports, and enhanced their love for physical activity.

Participating in sports offers numerous benefits. Physically, children build strength, coordination, and overall fitness, which leads to improved health outcomes and increased energy levels. Regular physical activity can also help reduce the risk of developing health issues later in life.

Mentally, sports contribute to reduced anxiety and promote better focus in and out of the classroom. Children also develop resilience and perseverance by learning to overcome challenges and push through difficult tasks.

Socially, sports create opportunities for building friendships and learning teamwork, cooperation, and communication. Children gain valuable experiences working with others towards shared goals, which fosters a sense of belonging.

Additionally, sports can help children build self-confidence by mastering new skills and reaching personal goals. A sense of achievement is developed over time, and children often feel empowered by their progress. Finally, sports can help children learn leadership, responsibility, and accountability as they take on different roles within a team. These life skills extend beyond the sports field, preparing children to thrive in various areas of life.
