The information on this page is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents/carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home.

At Frodsham Primary Academy our primary aim is the safety and well-being of our staff and pupils. We recognise that any school closures or remote learning will impact differently on all of us and we acknowledge that children and families will face a variety of situations and challenges. With this in mind we take all steps possible to keep school open, but have robust contingency plans should school ever need to close.

We would ask all parents and carers to take the time to familiarise themselves with the information below so that our whole community can support our pupils and ensure minimal disruption to their learning if we should be forced to close for any reason. 

Teaching & Learning:

Our aim is to keep our core purpose of teaching and learning continuing as effectively as possible. During a school closure (or self-isolation) pupils will be provided with learning to do at home and although we have high expectations of all pupils to complete the work set however, we appreciate how difficult it can be. Our remote curriculum is aligned to the classroom curriculum as much as possible. We will sometimes need to adapt our subject curriculum when moving to remote education, for example because some topics are hard to teach remotely. The remote curriculum will be carefully sequenced, ensure that pupils gain new knowledge/ concepts but also obtain the building blocks they need to move on to the next step and assess the pupils’ knowledge. Within the remote curriculum there may also be a focus on developing and applying the children’s existing knowledge and skills- for example in basic English and Maths skills such as handwriting and times tables. Each day, staff will provide a range of online learning lessons and a range of activities for the children to complete on a variety of engaging learning platforms. The daily lessons will support you in continuing your child’s learning journey at home by continuing to access the National Curriculum. In addition to these daily activities, staff will provide regular feedback, suggestions and additional tasks, quizzes and assessments through online learning platforms, 1:1 discussions and during the story time session for the duration of time that schools are closed. (or self-isolating)

Special Needs:

For children with special educational needs (SEND) we realise this will have an impact on how Education Health and Care Plans are delivered. Extra attention will be given to meeting the individual needs of children and young people with SEND and their families in the event of school closure or partial school closure. If any child is unable to access a computer, tablet or phone, please let us know in order that resources and activities can be collected from school or posted home.
